The Fear Loop
Most of your fear isn't really happening
Some of the most panic-inducing experiences I’ve had, never actually happened. They existed entirely in my mind; worst-case scenarios I imagined so vividly that my body reacted as if they were real. My nervous system lit up, my thoughts spiraled, and panic dropped in, always leaving a heavy, sticky residue I couldn’t shake, sometimes for days. And I was alone with it.
Now compare that to a real-life moment of fear: leaving work one night in Atlanta we were held at gunpoint and robbed. Two men came out of nowhere, demanding everything we had. It happened so fast there was no time to panic. I was fully present, running on instinct. Afterward, there was adrenaline, but none of that lingering dread. Plus, it was an experience I was able to process as I shared the story with friends, so I was supported in the aftermath in a way I never am when I’m in a mind-induced spiral.
That contrast is an important distinction. Mental fear loops and festers. It shows up again when your brain is bored and looking for something to do, or at 3 am when reality is at its most distant. Real fear, in the moment, is sharp, but it moves through in a very different way.
Most of us live in the mental version of fear, and there are three versions we usually find ourselves in. The first is when your busy Mercury/Gemini mind gets involved with your inner Cancer /Moon, and you slip into fears for loved ones. What if someone is lost or hurt? What if I can’t help them? What if I can’t handle it emotionally?
The next version is where your Mercury/Gemini mind partners up with your Pluto/Scorpio fears: the fear of what could happen, what has happened, what might happen again. I know how bad it can get, and that scares me.
The last is where your Mercury/Gemini mind partners with your Neptune/Pisces energies and dips into collective fear around war, leadership, illness (whatever). These fears become shared emotional environments. Everyone else seems worried, so I should worry too. What if the worst-case scenario happens to me?
Right now, it’s especially easy to get pulled into all that fear.
There’s a constant stream of input from news, media, opinions, collective unrest. The mind takes it, runs with it, and before you know it, you’re living inside your own version of “everything is about to get even worse.”
So we practice being more conscious and more aware of our thoughts and our state and, and as we do that, it’s important to remember: yes, things can feel hard right now. But you still get to decide how much you buy into the “it’s about to get really bad” narrative.
Because the mind will build a case for fear if you let it.
But this is where Aries comes in (and I cover this in my latest teaching on Star Narratives and YouTube). Aries is fire and fire brings light. We have 3 big players in Aries now, Saturn the advisor, Neptune the spiritual guide, and Chiron the healer (which has been in Aries for the last 8 years). We have backup and support in a way we haven’t had here before. Aries is like turning on the light in a dark room and realizing what you feared isn’t actually there. It burns off the fog of mental fear that lives in your head and spirals without being checked.
Aries is courage and bravery. But not explosive reactions or performative outrage, this is real strength. Grounded, steady, self-directed.
When fear is living unchecked in your mind, the most powerful thing you can do is come back into reality. Fire helps you do that because fire is active, energizing and it moves things.
Fear is fascinating, it is addictive. But if you stay there, you stay stuck. So if you feel yourself getting pulled in, move. Activate. Set boundaries. Use your anger with intention instead of letting it scatter.
You don’t have to stay in fear. You can look around and find plenty that feels wrong. You can wait for things to get better so you can finally feel safe. Or…you can choose differently. You can step into your power and trust that if something goes wrong, you’ll handle it.
And in the meantime, there is still so much here, beauty, wonder, and things that are genuinely extraordinary. It would be a shame to miss all of that because you’re consumed by fear of things that may never even happen. And believe it or not, things are unfolding with divine intelligence, even if you can’t fully see it yet. And divine intelligence doesn’t need you to fix problems with your fear, it needs you to become more conscious.
